A female patient attendant at Sittwe City Hospital said, “I just returned from the hospital. Five people died on the spot. More than ten were injured. I saw about five children among the injured. One of the patient attendants said that her brother’s family had two husbands and wives who died at the same time and their two children were seriously injured. It is very sad to see.”

Yesterday, March 9th, at around 11:00 p.m., an artillery shell in the Military Council Police Battalion fired on purpose and exploded in the Impala Muslim neighborhood in Sittwe.

A politician from Sittwe said, “Now everyone can see that the military council is creating ethnic and religious conflicts in Rakhine. It is a known issue. The army is based around Sittwe.
