Thirteen Myanmar border guard personnel from Maungdaw in Arakan State fled the ongoing conflicts and sought refuge in neighbouring Bangladesh.

They arrived at Nazir Para in Teknaf at around 7 am on Thursday after crossing the Naf river. They escaped the ongoing fighting against the Arakan Army (AA) members in Maungdaw locality.

The Myanmar armed guards surrendered to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in Teknaf.

Lieutenant colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed, commander of Teknaf-2 BGB, confirmed that they were taken into custody after their weapons were confiscated.

The fighting intensified as the AA fighters continued their offensive in Maungdaw locality.
