The Arakan Army (AA) intensified its offensive against the battalion headquarters located in Rathedaung township of Rakhine State.
The AA fighters launched an offensive against the Rathedaung-based 536th light infantry battalion, 537th light infantry battalion and 538th light infantry battalion on Sunday evening, said an AA statement.
It also added that regular offensives were carried out in certain areas which were also previously targeted.
The junta forces, who abandoned the Aung Tha Pyay border guard post in northern Maungdaw township, were engaged in combat with the AA fighters. The intense clashes persisted for hours.
The AA also pursued and eliminated these columns, which caused the Border Guard Police (BGP) personnel to desert their camp and flee into Bangladesh.
Bangladeshi media outlets reported that over a hundred BGP personnel fled into their territory. Till Monday evening, 29 BGP personnel fled to Bangladesh, reported the Dhaka-based media outlets.
