In Kyauk Phyu Township, a resident of Kyauk Phyu told Nirutsari News Agency that although there are people who have been injured by stepping on a mine planted by the military council, landmines are still being planted in areas where the public travels.
“They are imprisoned all the way in the villages where there is no fight. East, West, South, North, almost everywhere. He was also imprisoned in the frame of the car. “Once before, a man lost his leg because he stepped on a mine that was trapped in that frame,” he said.
Villagers said that landmines were also planted near the village of Saiphong Duin, on the other side of Ngalapoe Creek in Kyauk Phyu City.
In Kyauk Phyu Township, Kuk Taung, Banana Creek, Taung Long, Around Khmer (534) outside Locals said that they are worried about the danger of mines because the military council has laid mines in many parts of the village starting from Min Taeng.
A resident of Kyauk Phyu told Nirutsari News Agency that the situation in Kyauk Phyu is calm these days, but the movements of the military council are seen in detail.
“Military vehicles leave Kyaukphyu city. I went to the 32nd Police Battalion. I don’t even see many policemen in that police station. All I see are soldiers. It is known that there were even about 400 policemen in that police battalion before. Now there are soldiers. There are almost no police. It’s like they are joining forces,” he said.
According to the Landmine & Cluster Munition Monitor, 384 people were killed and 124 injured due to landmines in Myanmar in 2022 (NN-11).
